Today, the organization continues to promote and serve the broad cultural, educational and professional interests of students of Afrikan descent at UCLA as well as in the greater Afrikan community.  A Message from our New ASU Co-Chairs

ASU Family,

We are proud to see the strength that the Union has displayed in light of the unforeseen tie that occurred during the Winter Quarter staff election. A tie could have divided our community and left many members feeling disenfranchised, but we witnessed an unprecedented showing of courage as the body came to consensus last Thursday night to elect two Chairs for the first time in the nearly 43 year history of the Afrikan Student Union at UCLA.

Because this is a new system we understand that it is still very difficult for some of the general body, alumni and stakeholders to conceive how Co-Chairs will work, but we are confident that with your aid and support in the development of these new positions we will create a structure that will allow us to not only figure out this partnership but to hone our individual strengths to move the Union forward together. Already through helpful recommendations from the Union we have decided to have one shared email address and joint business cards to maintain transparency & visibility---your continued suggestions are welcomed and encouraged.

Again, we are very proud to see the way in which the Union has come together in the last few days to make such a bold decision as electing two Chairs; moving forward, we ask for your continued patience, understanding, and most importantly your participation as we transition into the role as Co-Chairs of the Afrikan Student Union at UCLA.

In closing, we are both honored and humbled with the responsibility that has been bestowed upon us, and intend to do our collective best to fulfill your expectations. Thank you for your support.

In Love & Solidarity,

Tierra Moore & Adrien Sebro
